In each race, only the top 10 finishers score points – everyone else leaves empty-handed. Here’s the official points breakdown:
1st place = 25 points
2nd place = 18 points
3rd place = 15 points
4th place = 12 points
5th place = 10 points
6th place = 8 points
7th place = 6 points
8th place = 4 points
9th place = 2 points
10th place = 1 point
There’s also 1 bonus point for the fastest lap – but only if the driver finishes inside the top 10. If they’re outside the top 10, the fastest lap doesn’t count toward the standings.
Who Will Be the 2025 Formula 1 World Champion?
In F1, it’s not just about one title – there are two World Championships up for grabs each season:
Drivers’ Championship: The driver with the most points at the end of the season becomes the Formula 1 World Champion. Pure prestige. Constructors’ Championship: Motorsport is a team effort – even if it doesn’t always look like it. The team with the most combined points from both drivers takes home the Constructors’ title and the biggest chunk of prize money.
Every team wants the double win: having the best driver and the best overall team. Prestige meets performance – and profit.
